Samsung 32Z306V Settings

Hi can anyone help me please ? I have a Samsung 32Z306V and need the standard geometory settings that they are shipped from the factory with. To find this on the TV from standby press INFO;MENU;MUTE;POWER and the TV will start in settings mode. The settings I require are for the DEFLECTION menu only. If you scroll and select deflection it will list all the values for the different options. I would be very grateful if someone could produce this list for me as I have adjusted mine without the sense of making a note of the original values and now I believe it was better before I messed with it. Thank you.

The default settings relate to each individual TV and it's unlikely that putting someone elses settings in there will help you much. It could make matters even worse.

The key to successfully setting up geometry correctly is to display a suitable test pattern. Can you borrow an Digital Essentials or AVIA test DVD from someone?

Thank you for your info. I wouldn`t imagine that there is a person sat at the end of the Samsung production line typing in the geometory settings for each TV I would have thought they have a standard EEPROM dump put in them and providing all the tube has been manufactured within specification then the picture will be acceptable off the standard settings. I may be wrong but this is what I imagine happens, I can`t see them fine tunning every TV that goes through production.

That is the problem I am having setting up the geometory, I can not chose a different input source once I am in the settings menu so I am trying to set it on a moving picture and it is impossible. There must be a way of chosing a different source input but I can not find how to do it. At present I am changing one setting then dropping out of engineers mode going back to my test pattern and seeing how it has changed then back in again. It is almost impossible.

I used to be a bench engineer specialising in repairing Philips TV's.

Obviously, I'm speaking from past experience and not suggesting Samsung is the same but I'm reasonably confident your theories are not really in line with what really happens.

If you restore a Philips TV to the default values, they are without fail a complete mess.

The tolerances of the scan coil assemblies are very wide and each TV is indeed set up by hand (albeit not by a human!). On the production line (and I'm sure Samsung will be the same), a machine vision system is used to set the TV's up. A sequence of patterns is displayed on the screen and the display is monitored by a CCTV system which then automatically adjusts the settings on the TV. These settings are then stored and the TV moves off for final QC where small adjustments may be made by a human.

I'm sure there must be a way of displaying an alternative source whilst in the service menu. On Philips sets, this can be achieved by using the local buttons on the TV - have you tried that? Which source can you see by default?

The only source I can see is whichever internal tuner station I left the TV on before entering the engineering mode. If i was watching BBC1 thats the channel that displays in the background while I adjust the geometory. I can not select any AV input from either the remote control or the buttons on the set itself. I`m sure I am doing it wrong but I can`t get it to change.

I have managed to set the TV up last night using the long winded process I told you of, where I adjust a setting then switch it off and on again and go and see what change it has made. It would be so much easier to adjust if I could only see another source as I am adjusting it.

Do you have an old VCR lying around anywhere? If so, tune the TV to the VCR channel, then plug your DVD player / whatever else it is you're using as a source into the VCR.

It's a bit of a bodge but it should sort you out.
