Upgrade questions

I just popped into Comet today to look at the Panasonic TX36PD30 and TX30PD30

I was told today that the 32" and 36" Panasonic CRT's are end of line and that Comet were not getting any more in after orders were filled, the guy then let slip that they may be interested in selling the TV cheaper to get rid of them before the new stock comes in, is this true do you know? also do people know of where the best place to buy these is. I need the TV and a 5 year warranty.

Cheers.

AFAIK the Panny PD30's are NOT end of line - they've only been on the market a few months.

As for where to buy, as ever the very cheapest places are on-line. Given your requirements for a 5 year warranty, our friends at John Lewis can probably help. They offer free delivery and free 5 year warranty, a very good return and refund policy and they will price match.

I order my TX32PD30 from JL Cheadle the other day and will pay £1150.

Cheers,

Paul

I have just had 2 Panasonic TX32PS5's from Comet (online). The first one had a cracking picture but was damaged in transit. A replacement was sent but this turned out to be faulty (poor focus, poor colours & generally dull). An engineer agreed and a replacement was ordered.

After a week or more of phoning, on the day of delivery I phoned late in the day to see where it was and was told they were no longer doing that TV. I could have a different model or a refund.

Maybe Comet are cutting down on Panasonic models? Seems strange as they were listed on their website but checking delivery dates gives a "not available for this model"

I bought another from somewhere else, they had plenty. Still not sure if PQ is up to first one. sometimes seems a bit soft focus. Maybe it's imagination but much better than faulty one was.

Panasonic and Comet, anyone else shed some light on the subject?

It would appear that electricaldiscountuk.co.uk also do a good deal on these.

32" = £1182.99 + £20 del + £100 for 5 year warranty = £1302.99
36" = £1619.99 + £20 del + £100 for 5 year warranty = £1739.99

PWard, who did you pricematch JL against to get the good deal on the 32"?

Cheers.

Hi MrBroon,

I didn't need to get JL to pricematch - £1150 was the ticket price in the shop.

Cheers,

Paul

Wow that was a stroke of luck, I was impressed that they had it in the shop today at £1299 instead of their online price of £1499!
