Laptop to CRT TV

I want to connect my laptop (Samsung NC10) to my PHILIPS FLAT SCREEN CRT TV ~5 years old.

The only connections my TV have are the RCA.
Will a simple VGA to RCA cable work?

I've been reading about this and came across some people needing a scan converter.

Are there anyway to find out if I need one?

Re: Laptop to CRT TV

Welcome to the forums ^_^ First up, great decision on the NC10! I have one, upgraded it to 2GB and running Windows 7 on it atm.

As for connecting it up to your CRT TV, the easiest option would be S-Video but the image is awful... You might have to invest in a VGA > RGB Scart converter if you are serious about using it rather often and have a decent image at the end of it.

Re: Laptop to CRT TV

I know it's not laptop to TV, but I've just connected up a Topfield PVR to my CRT TV via S-video and the picture is very good.

Re: Laptop to CRT TV

do you have a s video port on your laptop? if so then it will be easy because nearly all the tvs have s video but do check your tv before you get the cable.
