Are there any dealers still selling CRT's?

Hi,

I'm looking out for a better CRT again, preferably a 36", but wouldn't you know it, the supply of big tellies close to Milton Keynes on Ebay seems to have dried up :/
I was watching the Gadget Show on Five, and one of the presenters went to a big warehouse full of all sorts of tv's, including CRT's. He said they were either sold at knocked-down prices, or shipped off to other parts of the world.
Unfortunately I couldn't see the name of the warehouse, and as it's in Birmingham it's a bit far away anyway... are there any such dealers in the Milton Keynes region?

This should be a link to a video of the Gadget Show feature - I haven't got time to watch it, so do come back and summarise the info for me please. What we really need is the generic name of the type of traders who resell these overstocks/leftovers etc.

FiveFWD - Budget Challenge video from The Gadget Show

I was also going to refer you to Miller Brothers cos I got my ex-display Daewoo from them - but Google showed me this:

Miller Brothers, a Doncaster-based electrical goods retailer is the latest casualty of Woolworths' demise.

What with Empire Direct as well... it's just too bad

Thanks for the link
'TV Wholesalers' is the generic term he used, and yes! I could see the name of the wholesaler he went to, it's AshTronic (Skip to 12 minutes into the video to see the important bit!)

Sadly, only one 36" telly on Ashtronic's site, and it's without a stand

I'm going to ring around the local tv wholesalers and see what they've got...

Re: Are there any dealers still selling CRT's?

I recently met the guy who runs this business

The Vintage TV & Wireless Co. Home Page

Not only can he sell you a Vintage B&W tv but will also convert it using a small device the about half the size of a paperback and a freeview tuner to show digital Tv at 405 lines. Now that's what I call retro !. He has customers who are buying them and using them as their regular TV. All the original valve circuitry and CRT's are working. He demonstrated one to me. I'd forgotten how long it takes for an old TV to 'warm up' before the picture appears.

If anyone has some TVs from the 70's and early 80's he would like to know. Many sets were scrapped after the demise of 405. Part of his business is in supplying Tv's and Radios for film work. A lot of radios seen in "The Boat That Rocked" came from his stocks.
