A condensor ?
To me it's a capacitor. It'll be "leyden jars" next.

Sony to recall 340,000 television sets in Japan

AFP English Wire via NewsEdge Corporation : TOKYO, July 29 (AFP) - Sony Corp. said Tuesday it will recall 340,000 television sets for defective condensors.
The defective parts can short circuit and burn, the consumer electronics giant said.

The company said it would recall 10 models, built and sold in Japan between 1998 and 1999.
