How do you demo a TV?

What I thought would be a simple task of choosing a 32" widescreen TV is turning into a nightmare! Soooo many models and soooo many price variations.

Anyway, I've wandered around various stores but there doesn't seem to be any consistancy in signal source/strength to actually make an informed decision on picture quality....

My local Curry's, for instance, has 80 sets running off 10 aerials and most of the TV's don't appear to be tuned-in properly.

Which shops (near Wigan) offer good demonstration facilities?
What should I be looking for in a picture?

I'll be buying a home cinema system so the sound quality is not an issue. Also, I'll be after Freeview (either iDTV or set-top box) so analogue tuner quality is also irrelevant (I think!)

The best place to demo TVs in Wigan is Ron Leigh AV in Mesnes Street, not only are they set up correctly but are a lot cheaper than most other local companies.

Hmmm, thanks for the pointer Brock, but Ron Leigh do not stock any TV's with digital tuners (which I prefer) and do not have specific demo facilities.

Admittedly the TV's were tuned correctly but not connected to Freeview boxes with Scart leads so it's difficult to confirm picture quality....
