Dust (no really!)
This applies to many electronic devices. I was just checking the PDF manual of the Tosh 36ZP48, I bought one on eBay (apparently delayed because of the tunnel fire), and stumbled across a warning in the installation part that says to not use in a dusty environment!!! Come on, unless TVs went only for rich guys with servants or somthing, every house will have plenty dust accumulated on the inside of the TV after a while. And I'm not that much into electronics but I know PCB boards have a protective layer over them.
On the other hand, I've read some time, somewhere, that if you have plenty of dust and the humidity is high or small condensation forms, that mixed with the dust might originate shortcuts.
What's you TV engineer's opinion on this ?
Cheers
José

Re: Dust (no really!)
I'm no (electrical) engineer, but it makes perfect sense that damp dust could cause havoc, simple.

Re: Dust (no really!)
Hi Guys, well, i have an HITACHI it's a 21" Multi Standard CRT i bought in May 1983,(£429.00) I've never had the back off and therefore it's never been cleaned. Now, over the years I've had a big hairy German Shepard and 4 cats, and the set has NEVER faulted (I hope I'm not tempting fate )
Maybe I've been lucky
