Toshiba 36ZP38B Picture Problem - DFS??

Hi,

I've read several posts on this very helpful forum on problems with the DFS module on the Toshiba 36ZP38B.

I've attached a couple of pics showing the problem and describe the issue also:
Symptoms
-1/3 screen black
-2/3 screen scrambled picture - not even menus on TV remote are readable so definitely not a cabling problem
- picture does eventually return perfectly (10-15 mins or so) until next time TV is switched off whereby it all starts again
- sound is fine throughout all of above.

Does this seem like a DFS problem - any suggestions on what to mention to Tosh customer services to get the part sent to local dealer for free (as so many seem to have had success with).

thanks in advance!

Re: Toshiba 36ZP38B Picture Problem - DFS??

Hi,

From other posts this does seem to be the dreaded DFS problem - rather than waste anyones time going over old ground here I'll start ringing round some local repair companies and hopefully get Tosh to send a FOC module to them.

Doh!

Welcome to the forum.

That looks very much like the DFS module to me.

Follow my instructions in the DFS thread and you'll get a result.

Good luck.

Re: Toshiba 36ZP38B Picture Problem - DFS??

Well good to his word, Grumpy came round and installed the replacement DFS module - TV is now working great.

As he will attest to, try and get a local engineer if possible, but if not, you cant go wrong contacting Grumpy - lots of great feedback on his work on this site also.

Cheers!

I had the same fault with my 32in Toshiba and the repair man from Comet came round and fixed it with a new module in half an hour.Luckily i had it covered for five years as the bill was £172,its now over four years old and has the best picture i have ever seen on a tv
