Samsung - problem with dark scenes

I have a Samsung WS28M64 TV which works fine apart from one small but still annoying problem. In dark scenes with low contrast a light patch appears down the left side of the screen.

If there is any patch of brightness in the scene, no matter how small, the picture is fine. But when there is very little contrast the patch appears and the picture goes a little cloudy.

The same effect happens with regular analogue TV input, DVD and VCR. There are no electrical components near the TV other than the DVD and VCR, which are underneath.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Norm
