rgb colours washed out prob.

hi

i have an old toshiba 2857db pro logic with a toshiba s220e player. which works great in s-video via the scart lead but when i turn the dvd player to rgb although the picture is more stable the colour is washed out! altering colour on tv does not improve things. i have tried 2 scart leads although i have to say they are cheap ones that come with videos etc. Are rgb scarts different to normal scart? or should this work? (it is connected to rgb scart socket in tv)

I have that telly as well.

My RGB is very dark (contrast wise) with a greenish tint if you increase the brightness. You cannot adjust the colour (i.e. you cannot get it black&white).

Same devices (DVD player, Phillips onDigital) connected to other RGB telly are searing bright (contrast).

The only thing that might work is a device like a skydigibox with controllable contrast.

It seems many older toshibas have poor rgb. I stick with s-video.

I am planning to upgrade to ZT29, but lack of PAL progscan is making me wait.

Thanks for your reply. i will stick with s-video

on that model tv, depending which scart socket you use I think you can select either svhs or rgb input, get the wrong one and you watch in black and white

that´s right vegnomeat.

On mine you cannot use the colour control on rgb to make the picture black & white.
