Panasonic 32ph40 question.

I have just bought this tv and am looking fosome high quality scart cables so i can use an rgb connection for my digibox and panny xv10 dvd player.

The thing is that some people are saying that some tv's show a better picture in component or s-video modes.
Can anyone tell me what the best connections would be for this t.v.?

How do you find the TV.

I have a buzzing Sony 32FX66 and am thinking of swapping it for a 32PH40.

Does the set suffer from Scan Coil buzzing or is it completely quiet with the sound down.

If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay and where from

I am going to use the john lewis price match. Cheapest I have seen it so far is just less than a grand from Bennetts.

If the DVD has component-out use that, it should be the best.

RGB should have the edge over S-Video; use the Component connection for the DVD and then you can use some nice QED or Supra scart cables for any other sources that can output RGB because you'll have two free RGB sockets

This TV is flexible connection-wise, however I found the picture processing was simply not good enough on some sources, so I returned mine.

The tv doesn't make a buzzing noise, it is totally silent. But the picture quality isn't too good, which is why i am trying some new scart cables.

How are the Monster Video 1 scart cables?

whats wrong with the Picture.

I wouldn't have thought new scart leads would only fix noise on the signal rather than major picture problems.

Would you not recommend the set then? I am just sick of the Sony buzzing. The picture is not brilliant on Sky etc anyway. Not good enough to compensate for the buzzing anyway

I plan to use the set for DVDs, Sky Football etc.

Also could you let me know where from and how much?

Agreed, there's no way that any Scart cable would fix the excessive digital processing on the PH40; it's a feature of the set.

Quite a few people have experienced a lack of quality, the problems on my set manifested themselves in the form of extreme blurring and blocking, woeful handling of text and unforgivable colour bleeding despite my high quality cables.

Admittedly the static picture (especially with DVDs) was superb, but videos and Sky were sometimes unwatchable, especially in the case of sport.

I may have just got a duffer, but the whole episode has me wary of modern televisions in general (my old 28" Hitachi seems utopian now ), especially 100Hz models.

if you dont mind me asking what tvs are you considering to replace your panny.

I have similar processing faults on my jvc 32x25 and am unsure what to replace it with.

I've actually just ordered a Sony 28LS60 having discounted the Panasonic TX28PL10 and Philips PW6006 (sp?), both for RGB reasons, as RGB will be my main source.

I wanted to move back down to 28" because 32" was a bit large for my room.

It's the basic 100Hz model without all the DRC-MF bells and whistles; I'm just hoping that's it's not a buzzer, although I think that's more prevalent in the FX66 models.

It comes with two RGB scarts, discreet side S-Video in and a standard composite/s-video scart.

I should point out that my budget has been quite substantially reduced lately, so this choice is lower on the fiscal scale.

I have seen the 28ls60 and it does seem to have a better picture in plain 100hz mode

the jvc 32x25 i have can be switched to 100hz mode but this makes the image less sharp and prone to blurring.

like you say hope its not a buzzer.

I think i shall wait a while until the new 32fx68 comes out and see if sony have sorted the buzzing problem

I have thought similar about the fx68 in the hope the buzzing is sorted. Going on Sonys current views I doubt the buzzing is very high on their list of priorities.

Have you heard when it is due to be officially released or any technical data.

All I have seen is a doc on a website saying April 03

thats all i have seen too and its retail price of £799 which seems good value for the 32 inch set. dont know about the spec though but it should be equal to or better than the fx66.

I doubt i will have made a decision by then so this set may be worth checking out especially if sony make it switchable from 100 to 50 hz which is what i think i will opt for as at least it gives the the option of changing if the 100 hz processing is crap.

I know some sets already have this function but as yet they are not within the same price range as my exchange.

I wouldn't really recommned the ph40, the picture is just not worth the money.
I paid £1000, from a local shop, not a chain store. I live in west london.

Its not thew picture that make the price,
its the sound system in 32PH40!

Buy a 32PS20 thats the same picture but simpler sound system.
I think the sound in PS20 is good enough.

The picture on PS20 is good if you,
decrease the digital picture processing.

I have not seen the "Footy problem" on my PS20.
There is only a football picture problem if
the mach is linked over bad satellite links before
it is broadcast.

Other wise there is nothing magic about football :-)

I have never seen any trails after the
ball or any problems of that kind.
But then I have turned off most of the unnessesary digital processing.

But all digital processing TV's like good antenna signal to show a good picture.
