Sony TV

Just ordered a K32fx66 from Webelectricals. Anyone else bought from them?

I was wondering whether it was supplied with a moulded 3 pin british plug.

The sony DVD Player i got from them had a euro 2 pin plug and a 3 pin adapter already attached. Does this mean its an import???

I would really not want an imported TVand think i would prefer to cancel and get a 'british version'.
Someone help me!

Your dvd player is an import (or "grey" product) as they are called. Other things to look for are photocopied instructions, a model number that doesn't end in U (for UK), opened packaging etc.

The product you are getting may still be OK but obviously it's best to get a UK spec one.

Don't know much about webelectrical but do a search to see if anyone else has.

All manuals etc were official in English and the box was 50/50 French/English though.
Happy with the DVD player and too late for that so im stuck with it!
I am going to ring them about the tv now and check.

Just rang them and was told that they get the products from Sony Uk, Panasonic Uk etc and yet sometimes they sometimes have the euro plug and UK adapter supplied, sometimes not.

Apparantley its the luck of the draw depending on what they get from the manufacturer.
If its good enough for the manufacturer to send out then its got to be ok. All EU specs are the same and run on the same voltage so i suppose it is logical to build a standard and just give adapters to UK as we are different. Plus the price has to be taken into account too!

My DVD player is great and i have no problems with it and the Sony Euorpean guarantee still covers the products, so it just a niggle until i see it in action i suppose.

Not true: Grey imports are those sourced outside the EU. Those from the EU are parallel imports and must meet all relevant safety standards etc and any warranty will still apply.

As stinky said, in any case the voltage is 230V throughout the EU and manufacturers usually have a single spec for the whole area. Obviously it's a good idea to double check though. As for the adaptor ready fitted as mentioned by stinky, this indeed is common practice now.
