Thanks: Gave 2, Got 0 | My TV's AV channel has stopped picking up my PS3
First of all apologies, I'm new to this forum and wasn't entirely sure where I should post this so I posted it here and perhaps it can be moved. Anyway:
We have had workmen putting up new guttering on our house and I think they may have knocked the aerial as I can't get any picture from sky.
But the main question I have is, would this affect the AV channel? I can't play on my PS3 as the AV channel is just a dark screen, I've tried re-tuning and everything, but I'm not the most clued up person when it comes to this sort of stuff.
It was fine last night but not now.
Cheers for any advice and once again apologies as I know this is not the correct forum.

Do you mean the dish, as the aerial wouldnt effect the sky box. The dish or aerial also wouldnt effect the av channels.
Do both sky and the ps3 both use the av channel?
it would probably be worth checking all you cable connections first.
Is it on the correct av channel?, do you have av1 av2 etc?

I have never had a problem before. I think Sky perhaps does use the AV channel, I take the sky cable out when I plug the PS3 one in. I've made sure all the cables are fitted properly. It's a simple old Alba tv probably about 6 years old which just has the one AV channel.
Thanks again for your help.

It is the basic wire that comes with it. red, white, and yellow wire connected to one of these (bloody hell I'm rubbish at explaining). |

Attachment 67640 | No problem, so you're plugged into the scart socket which would indeed be the av channel on your tv. Try turning your ps3 off, then switch it on again but keep your finger on the power button until you hear a bleep. Make sure your tv is on and on the av source.

I just don't understand it, it was fine last night.

I just don't understand it, it was fine last night. | I take it you've checked all the connections? Everything is connected properly? It may be worth checking incase a connection has become loose.

It seems to me that if you can't get a picture from either Sky or your PS3, the common factor is the TV. Scart plugs and sockets aren't really designed to be pulled in and out constantly, so you may have broken something.
I'm confused by your picture. Is that the actual adapter you are using, or just one a bit like it? The reason I ask is that you talk about red, white and yellow connectors, which would normally be right and left audio and composite video (which is a pretty bad thing to use, especially for a PS3!), but the adapter looks like it takes RGB.

He is using the bundled composite cable and scart adaptor that comes included with the ps3.

| I have to agree, if you can't get a picture from any source it's likely to be the t.v. Have you tried a dvd player etc?

I used it as it comes in the box, what would you recommend instead?
I have tried the PS downstairs on another t.v. and all is fine.
With Sky the picture is rolling up and down the screen. You can make out the blue colour of the menu but not much else.

| If you have a hd tv you should be using a hdmi cable. If you are using a crt then it might be worth buying an rgb scart cable. The ps2 ones work on the ps3 |
