Unhappy Green screen and bowed image on my LG CRT

Hi there, first ever venture onto this site so apologies if I am posting in the wrong place/way etc.

I really need some help! my 28" LG tv (CRT) has turned green, and the picture bowed at the sides so the picture shape is ( ) and doesn't even all fit on the screen anymore.

What I really need to work out is whether it is definitely the TV that is the problem and not something else, I don't want to get a new TV and find it goes green too.

So my questions are:

1) could this be something to do with the red gun(?) breaking - would this bend the picture as well as turn it green?

2) could it be magnetic interference? I have a samsung surround sound system - about 6 months old, could the sub be too close to the TV or something? aren't all surround systems magnetically shielded? Also, the green colour is uniform across the whole screen - would this be the case if it was a magnetic problem?

It has a degauss option in the menus, which does the fizzy noise but makes no difference to the green.

we had a few powercuts recently, i'm wondering if some kind of surge damaged the CRT and getting a new telly will fix it.

Any help really appreciated. Thanks.
