Is £150 a good price for toshiba 36zp18q ???

as per title really!
in the local paper at £150 for a 36" zp 18Q in excellent condition apparently.

what should i look out for ???

sorry for not getting back sooner,but yes i did! collected it monday night.

having had a 32zp48 before and at the time wanting the 36 i did get it in the end for £120 which i dont think is a bad price seeing as i got £300 for my 32 back in march 06.
the picture is as good as i expected it to be,bit of wear on the on/off switch and not as many features as the 48 as i remember but im chuffed for £120.
first thing i did was the settings.the contrast was set to max as was the colour so i hope it will last a while but again the pic is awesome. i 'm tied as to which screen to watch at the moment to be honest,.
best bit though was lifting it off the stand and 4ft in the air to put on a built in cabinet that the old gear was on, s*** it was heavy!!!!
sold my 28" panasonic and an av bench to my bro in law for £75.sold xbox wireless adapter on here for £35 so all in all it cost me just £10 to upgrade!
problem i found out tonight is that i cant connect the dvd through component as i get sound but no pic only the blue screen...

My DVD recorder (Panasonic DMR-EH50) warns against progressive scan on PAL CRTs.

But you may be having an output or input problem.

Your DVD recorder sounds a bit bossy. Tell it to get lost

My 36zp48 has no problem outputting progressive via component. I did have a budget DVD recorder (Ellion) that gave problems on outputting via component - the screen broke up whenever the scene got too bright/ white. However, this has never happened with my Sony DVD recorder so it was a fault of the DVD machine, not the Tosh.

I might be wrong, but I always thought that the 36ZP18 was not a Progressive Scan model, I thought this was only introduced with the 36ZP38 and upwards. I think that the component input on the 18 is only in Interlaced mode.

sorry mate but can you explain what you mean by 'interlaced'

the tv has component in and the dvd player has component out. does this mean anything to you ???

It's possible to have component but still interlaced.

I hope that the post by Chris has explained the difference between Progressive Scan and Interlaced.

I'm not sure if all DVD players are the same, but mine has got a component output and you can select in the menu if you want it to output the image in Progressive or Interlaced mode. I would imagine that yours is currently set to Progressive which the new television cannot handle (whereas the old 32zp48 could), if you connect the DVD player to the TV using a scart lead or composite video you should then be able to change the setting in the menu to Non-Progressive/Interlaced and the component input should then work on your television.

I hope this makes sense.
