What do scrolling bars look like

Hi
yes i know i'm thick, however, if you don't ask etc, etc.

I have just bought a FQ75 and read about scrolling bars on this forum.

When i am playing DVDS and there is a dark scene, i see what looks like waves of clouds moving gracefully across the screen Left to Right

Are these scrolling bars?
If not, what are they.

If so, how do i get rid.

Thanks

Derek
