Smile Samsung WS-32W8VDE

I have had my Samsung WS-32W8VDE TV for almost 5 years now and have been very happy with it.

Over the last 6 months or so I have noticed that a shadow in both of the bottom corners that extends upwards towards the centre of the screen. This shadow seem much more noticeable when watching sport (green background) I switch the tv off from front button each evening and sometimes even disconnect from the mains for many hours at a time but the shadow now seems to be permanent. There is nothing magnetic in the same room except for the build in speakers in the tv itself. Does this sound serious?

The other morning when I turned the TV on I noticed that the contrast, brightness and colour seemed to be very high. I managed to reset them by selecting one of the preset picture settings. However I now cannot change the colour settings, well I can change them but they do not seem to have any affect on the colour. The settings for colour have a range from 0 to 100 but no matter what I set it to the colour does not seem to change. I have not attempted to change the colour often on this tv but I would expect a setting of 0 to display a picture in balck and white and a setting of 100 to blow the colours. Again does this sound serious?

I would appreciate some feedback as I have a engineer booked look at it and would like to know what he is talking about.
