Philips 14PV330 keeps switching off

Hi. I have a problem with my old Philips 14PV330 CRT that I keep in the kitchen. When I switch it on, after a few seconds there is a loud cracking noise and it switches itself off again. This will happen several times before it will stay on. Has anyone any idea what could be the cause and is it worth repairing? Many thanks in advance!

Re: Philips 14PV330 keeps switching off

It sounds like the line output transformer arcing over which is pretty common.
I suggest you do not use it in this condition...if you call in an experienced engineer there is a chance the transformer can be replaced at an economical price...if you continue to use it in this condition it will proably destroy other components leading to a bigger repair bill or make it uneconomical to repair.
