Possible to touch up damaged TV silver plastic?

Have had 4 Sony KP44PX2Us delivered now, all of which have been physically damaged: corners chipped, paint scratched, etc.

The latest one has a very small bit of damage on the plastic trim around the screen (the plastic with the Sony logo on which surrounds the plastic screen itself). It is very minor, but annoying, since the silver paint has scratched off to show grey/black underneath.

So, does anyone know if it is possible to either:

(a) Order a replacement part from Sony

(b) Touch up the damage with silver paint?

I know I could demand a replacement, but I am getting sick to death of waiting in for whole days for yet another damaged set to arrive, especially as this one is great in all other ways: good gemometry, focus and convergence.

Thanks guys!

I had a similar problem on my Phillips ( I managed to do the damage myself ). I small pot of silver modelling paint, specifically for use on plastics, and an artists brush, both purchased from B&Q did the trick. Not an exact match since you are hand painting onto a surface sprayed with metallic paint (try touching in a metallic finish car body to see what I mean), but near enough that you have to look closely for the problem.

Thumbs up

I retouched the bevelled -top of a vcr using silver-aluminium auto spray paint (acrylic). Of course I had to completely mask off the areas that did NOT want spraying. The finish was near perfect though I say it myself.

Er on second thoughts perhaps this wouldn't be very practical for your tv though as presumably there would be lettering/ graphics in the way. And it's a large area to spray.

Stick to lespaton's method.
