Panasonic Quintrixsr Acuity Gone Wrong

Hi there,

Recently we were watching TV when we heard some quiet "popping" noises every few minutes. Sometimes the screen flickered a little to the left and right. Then the image went blurred - it's not that noticable when watching a DVD or a TV programme - but it's nearly impossible to read text (such as the Sky menu) as the text is really blurred.

We turned it off for a while, and it smelt a little funny too. According to Holmans (Electrical shop) they said its dead and that they will charge us £20 to get the TV dumped.

EDIT: The Model is TX-32PD30

Would really appreciate any help offered on this one

Line output transformer or could be Tube.

Thats right

By going of the model and fault symptom:

It could be from a dry joint or a capaitor in the LINE Stage to most likely the LINE o/p TRANSFORMER intermittenly arcking and not to forget INT/TUBE.

It's a job for an experienced Engineer!

The TV can't be more than 3 years old, it's been kept well and looked after - and just suddenly stopped working to be honest. It seems a bit annoying that according to Holmans we should pay them £20 and they'll get rid of it for us.

Do you think it would be worth taking it to a television repairs person?

Yes! no harm in getting an estimate and like you say its been looked after.
