Info - Menu - Mute - Power on worked for me but i switched on the XRAY in the service menu & now the TV switches on & switches off in 3secs .
Is there a way 2 reset it or do i need 2 call the engineer?
regards

Is there a way 2 reset it or do i need 2 call the engineer? | You should all be very carefull when ENTERING SERVICE MODES and adujusting any Manufacture settings
With out any backup information.Allways NOTE settings before any changes!
Try service mode again in STAND/BY.
There is normally a FACTORY RESET with Samsung TV's but you need to get in service mode first.
At present i can only think of replacing the EPROM.Good Luck!

You have knackered what was probably a perfectly good set.

Why the hell would you switch on the Xray function, and more to the point, what the heck were you doing in the service menu, if you had no idea what you were going into change. That is sheer lunacy, and with turning on that option, any engineer will now know what you have done, and you will have voided your warranty.
Going into change the geometry is one thing, but playing about with setting's when you do not know what they do...I mean, why??? |

If it is in warranty don't say anything? "just went off" (This is not advised by this Forum)
If not under warranty then tell the TRUTH NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!
The Engineer will save time looking for faults that are not there!
Good Luck!

Hey Satpal,
Off the topic, sorry about that.
I am planning to buy a HDTV, the two choices are:
1. samsung CS-29Z40
2. philips 29PT8836/94
how is u r TV doing any problems with the color, sharpness etc, is DNie a good addon to have. Have read in a couple of forums, about ppl asking about the settings to disable the DNIe feature. Your comments please.

Thanks | samsung CS-29Z40 has DNR and it can be enabled or disabled from the User Menu. Over all color, Sharpness, brightness is gud, only has some slighty geometry probs not much noticable though. Sound is also gr8.
I have seen the Philips 29PT8836/94 it has gud quality picture but sound could had been better. Over all its a gud TV, expensive than Samsung though.
