Vertical bars\shadows on a Thomson tele.

Hello,

I've just bought a Thomson 28 inch widescreen tele (28WR25UG). When the picture shows low to mid brightness images (grey backgrounds are best) I can see 5 or 6 vertical shadow lines or bars about 1-1/2 inches wide on the left
hand side of the screen only.

I've looked at the same tele in a shop and the equivalent Ferguson TV and they both have the same problem.

I don't see much point in having the TV replaced as I'll most likely get one the same or worse - the geometry is almost spot on so I don't really want to swap it. If anyone can tell me what might be causing the problem then I can either repair it myself or at least be able to point the engineer in the right direction. If I can fix it in the service menu that would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Darren.

Probably ringing in the horizontal scan circuit. This may be caused by a wrong value or open circuit damping resistor, or it could be the flyback transformer. A repair or replacement is the answer.

Same here, learned to live with it. Would love a fix though.
