Philips 32pw6515/05 problem. Painter chip?

Hi peeps,
My philips CRT TV constantly keeps turning the volume down. The Led Light on the front flashes like it is recieving a command. I had the batteries out of the remote control to prove its not that.
This fault is from the moment you turn the tv on.
The only way to over come it is to constanstantly turn the volume up on the remote control. not fun
Is it the dreaded Painter chip.......

Cheers
Ben

Check the volume down button on the set itself is not jammed...other than that yes...this is one of the symptoms of a failed "Painter" IC.

Re: Philips 32pw6515/05 problem. Painter chip?

i got this in mint condition from a market for £15 soon as i got home i found the painter chip was the problem, opend the tele took the chip out and blew it, put it back in and it worked for 3+ months then flogged it on ebay for £150

got a toshiba 32zp38b for £10 on saturday in good condition works fine as all i needed to do was reove the teletxt board, NOW and AGAIN it'll jump the picture i mean, other than that my £10 is payin itself off already had 10+ hrs use out of it

better than spendin loads when u can buy it cheap from a market, play around with it and u never know ya luck !!
