Component/progressive

I want to use the component video output on my Tosh SD510e to feed a Panansonic plasma to use progressive scan output.

I am confused because I have heard that in order to use progressive scan you need the standard component connections plus H & V sync (i.e. five connections to the plasma).

I thought you could do all the progressive stuff with just the normail 3 phono to 3 phono.

What's the deal with this?

You do not need the other two leads.

Thanks Gordon. Simple and to the point. Makes me feel better now.
