De Gausing Panasonic CRT

Hi folks

We have a decorator in at the mo doing some painting, came home today and found one of my tannoy's had been moved next to the tv.

I now have a nice purple/ green splodge down the left hand side of the tv. I'm guessing it needs de gausing, nothing in the menu for it unfortunately unlike some monitors.

Does anyone know if this is likely to go over time, don't really want to mess with it myself with any magnets in case i make it worse . I can see a phone call to the insurance company looming if it doesn't go.

Gutted , love my old Panasonic CRT.

Thanks in advance

CD

Re: De Gausing Panasonic CRT

With some TV's they degauss after being turned off (properly, not standby), left overnight or for a long time, then turned back on.

Re: De Gausing Panasonic CRT

Hi CD,

I had exactly the same problem after leaving a big B&W next to my JVC 32" for about 3 hours. When I turned the set on there was a bright bluey/purple splodge on the screen close to where the speaker had been.

The good news is that I left it for 3 hours and when I turned the TV back on it had completely disappeared. If it doesn't work first time for you leave the set of for 30 mins and turn it back on. It degausses automatically each time providing it's left off for a while.

With any luck you'll be okay.

Re: De Gausing Panasonic CRT

Hi folks

Many thanks for the swift replies, am happy to report that my tv is fine tonight.

Seems that leaving it overnight did the trick, thanks again.
