TX36PD30 service menu, brightness problems

How can I get into the service menu to alter some settings? Watching Sky +, some channels are quite dark and the brightness setting on the telly is nearly 100%, surely too high? Seems ok on terestrial channels tho. Or is it my Sky + box thats at fault?

Whats a DVE disk?

Stevie

Re: TX36PD30 service menu, brightness problems

Always a bit of a problem with the Panny. It does not bode to well via RGB scart. Dark scenes losing a lot of detail and one tries to compensate via brightness but alas not the answer. Gamma correction is needed but NOT available through the menu or User (you and I) service menu. The only help comes from an adjustment called - Sub bright - in the service menu.

To enter

Bass up
Treble down

Hold down the "V-" key uder the TV front flap while pressing - Index - on the remote. Flicking through the settings and adjustments are achieved with the use of the scart selection buttons. Use - store - on the remote (under flap) to save settings. Write all settings down before attempting to change ANYTHING

To Exit

Press - N - on remote (under flap)

Try connecting the Sky + box to the PD30 using a S-VHS lead with scart on the end. The picture on my Panny improved ten fold, and the only downside is that you have to switch to sky manually.

DVE is Digital video essentials calibration DVD which helps set up all the levels correctly. Not to sure how it would help you with the Sky problem though.
