Samsung HD CRT

Do you know where the cheapest place is to get this tv? Cheapest I have found so far is £385 in Amazon.

Re: Samsung HD CRT

I got mine from Empire Direct for £385 but they don't list it any more, as far as I know Amazon is the cheapest at the moment

Re: Samsung HD CRT

Ordered mine from Amazon a couple of days ago, was the cheapest I could find too.

Not bad considering the nearest competitor is the JVC which only displays 1080i is £600 on empiredirect.

Re: Samsung HD CRT

The Sammy displays upto 1080i too
I think a £600 JVC would only be 1366x768 res if your talking about a JVC LCD.

the Sammy will accept a 1080i signal, that doesn't mean it will display 1080i without scaling

Re: Samsung HD CRT

The Sammy has a max screen res of 1920x1080, unlike lot of other screens which are 1366x768 and since its a CRT it is already interlaced so it wont scale the 1080i input.

Re: Samsung HD CRT

The Samsung set doesn't look any where near as sharp and detailed as an lcd at 1080i. It's not a patch on the jvc crt either.

You're right, it doesn't. Infact the JVC 1080i crt has more lines than the Samsung set.

Yes but the JVC in question doesnt display 720p, that's what I meant when I said it only displays 1080i.

Re: Samsung HD CRT

You obv didnt do your homework before buying your 409 then, google for info or read multi threads here.

The initual rumour was the TV scales everything to 1080i but its been proven it can do 1080i and 720p and 480p.
