Red, Green, Blue!!

I think I already know the answer to this, but I would like some confirmation.

I have a 32" Philips Pixel Plus CRT Television which I have had for a few years now.

But suddenly the stunning picture has decided to flicker and turn either Red, Green or Blue.

Switching off the TV for 5-10 minutes seems to rectify the problem for a while but after a few hours viewing it starts again.

Can anyone give me a heads up of what this could be...and is it time to invest in a new Plasma?

Lightbulb Re: Red, Green, Blue!!

Hmmm... If it happens after a period of use, it may just be some dodgy solder or similar which breaks a connection when hot. Have you tried another Scart socket? (if it has more than one). If that fails, get a repair quote - if it's a minor issue it may be worth a shot (as it sounds as if the tube's OK). Any proper TV engineers out there can stop laughing NOW - just a layman's opinion!

Re: Red, Green, Blue!!

My old Sony KV28HX15U had the same problem, the only difference being that the picture only ever turned blue. It only happened when using the RGB scart socket, never on the composite scart.

Let me know if you find out the cause, I'd like to know in case my new KV28HX15U starts doing it again... The useless engineers I sent my old set to spent 2 weeks looking at it and couldn't find anything wrong with it!

Hmm interesting. Neither the Sky Digi box or the Pioneer HDD/recorder are fixed via an RGB scart, only composite. But it may be worth changing the scarts to see if the problems persist.

I'll let you know!!

Re: Red, Green, Blue!!

May also be the tube signalling it's about to throw in the towel.

My old Toshiba 28" did this a couple of yrs ago and required a new tube to fix the problem.
