Insurance Offer - Shall I accept?

Hi,

Can anyone please help me with my dilemma below?

I've received a replacement tv offer from my insurance company this morning.....should I accept their offer for my Phillips 32PW9527 (100hz Pixel Plus) which cost me £1300 three and a half years ago for......a Samsung
WS32Z409TQ valued between £380-£450?

Recently the tube went on the Philips and luckily I had a policy which covered it for repair/replacement. The insurance co. has stated that under the terms of the agreement they will 'replace it with equipment of the same or similar make and specification'.

I just can't see this as a good replacement deal for me. The Samsung doesn't even have a stand and will look odd on sitting on a Philips stand (it probably won't fit anyway). Has anyone got any suggestions as to what I should do or have you been in a similar position?

Hi

I really don't think that is acceptable. The stand alone means it is not an equivalent replacement - I agree its extremely doubtful that the new TV would even fit on the Philips stand as they are often designed to interlock with each other.

Some friends of ours were just given £800 Comet vouchers to replace a two year old faulty LG set which cost them £800 to purchase originally.

It seems that your insurer is trying it on...

You do realise that new TV is a 1080i FULL HD TV dont you ?
Read all about them in the threads and decide if you want to take the gamble and try get unflawed one, the 419 btw comes with a stand and freeview box built in and its totally black, they sell for £499.
