The picture is scrolling up and down the screen and the tv repair man said it's the tuner and finding one is like finding rocking horse shi.........

I can use the scarts on the back for dvd/ps2 but the tuner is the problem he says. I could hook up a digi box but that would mean paying out for top up tv just for cartoon network, which I already pay for on my sky sub.

If anybody has any ideas..............................

I doubt it's the tuner as these are generally very reliable on the chassis fitted to that model...I have never known a faulty tuner on that model...and...anyway if it was faulty any decent TV engineer in the UK knows of/uses the services of a specialist tuner repair co in Manchester called MCES who can repair and return it (usually 3 days at most) cheaper than a new tuner...the fault may be elsewhere in the set.

So why not view Cartoon Network through Sky connected by scart...unless it's in a different room?

Sky is in another room. The tv fella is supposed to be coming out this afternoon so I'll see what happens. Cheers for the MCES advice, I'll look 'em up.

MCES are at...http://www.mces.co.uk/ your engineer would need to remove the tuner and send it off to them but you can still use the TV through scart while it's away getting repaired.
If you phone them with the tuner no (taken off the tuner label or any nos printed on it) they will give a price including return post.

Problem solved: I've hooked up an old vcr (yes, they still have their uses) and I'm using that tuner and then connecting via scart. Everything now works, ps2, dvd & Lee's treasured cartoon network!!!! Tanks for all the advice chaps.
