Tosh splodge

Hi folks, I have a 28" Tosh widescreen, about 5 or 6 years old, and there is an intermittent splodge of colour that appears every now and then. It tends to appear towards the left side of the screen and is a couple of inches in diameter (sometimes more), it has been like this basically from day one. My centre speaker is sat on top of the TV, but as it is dedicated centre, I presume it is magnetically shielded. I have my DVD and video next to the TV on the top of a unit. I used to have them on the TV stand under the TV, but still got the same problem. It is not a problem that bothers me much, we tend not to notice it. I never sent it back as we got it for free (long story involving mixed up orders, refunds etc) I just thought that someone on here may be able to shed some light on it.

What colour is the "splodge" ? Is it greeny/purplely?

If so, could well be some kind of magnetism - have you tried moving various bits like speakers etc away from the television when the splodge appears?

Paul, yes it is mainly a light greenish colour, I did try moving stuff around but it didn't make any difference.

ismael, difficult to move it around, like I say we are used to it and it doesn't really bother us, just wondered if anyone could say what it was.

I was toying with the idea of going down the plasma route, but it seems to me that CRT's have better quality pictures. I looked at LCD screens and to me they seemed very pixelated, and I was not overly impressed at all. I think that I will probably wait and upgrade to a 36" CRT when the funds allow. Can't really justify spending thousands on a plasma that to my untrained eyes has a similar quality picture to a CRT. I like the Tosh picture frame sets, just have to try and justify it to SWMBO. My current set up is a bit of a mixed bag, all done on the cheap, consists of :-

Tosh 28" widescreen CRT
Sony DVP 905 DVD
Sony STR-DA5000ES receiver
KEF Celeste IV fronts
JBL Control 1's rears
Gale Centre
Eltax Atomic A100 sub

I can see a lot of people telling me that it is drastically mis-matched, but it is a case of me being fairly happy with the sound and picture. The only part that I would like to change (apart from a bigger TV) are the rears, as the JBL's sound a little small and they are very directional in as much as you have to have them pointing directly at your ears to hear them properly.
To clarify the cheap bit, TV and JBL's-Not a single penny, KEF's-came free with the missus!, DVD and receiver-£220 for the two (definite bargain that!), centre and sub-about £200 together from Richers. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

I have also have 28in tosh crt and it suffers from the exact problem you describe. I tend to notice it more when Im playing console games as there is often a pure white screen which really shows up the splodges. I get 2 splodges-a blueish one on the left just off centre and a yellowish one on the right. I also thought it was due to magnetism although I havent had speakers near it. Still dont know what casues it exactly and it only happens every so often.
