Sony KD32DX200

I was over in Meadowhall, Sheffield this Monday.

One of the big stores there is still having its sale. Included was a Panny TX32LXD52 lcd set, reduced from £1440 to £999.

I like a bargain, and have fancied this set for the past few months, so I stopped and had a REALLY good look at it.

It was connected to a DVD player, showing a cartoon. PQ looked quite good and I could feel my Visa card throbbing in my pocket. (I think it was my Visa card).

I asked the salesgirl if it could be connected to an aerial, and she showed me where the sockets were, so I plugged the lead in....

And it was terrible. Sports action produced a vapour trail from the moving limbs. The colour definition just was inadequate. I then looked at the rest of the set. At the back, the base of the cabinet projects out for about 6", so no chance of sticking it on a wall.

My Visa stopped throbbing, I went home and continued my search for a Sony KD32DX200.

Onto eBay, and there it is, over in Leeds. 9 days to go, but I'll e-mail the seller and find out about it.

To cut the story short, it's now in my lounge. A six-month old hardly used specimen that builds on my 30 year experience of owning Sony tvs.

Probably the best one I've owned and the PQ is everything I hoped for. I couldn't buy a new one but am so pleased I was able to get this.

Congrats. I have the 32DX-150U which I've been pretty happy with. The much vaunted DRC feature seems to do nothing except make the image grainy though - I have it switched off.

Well, I'm amazed.

That's exactly what I've just done. I'm still wading my way through the functions. I haven't noticed Smartlink yet, you know, it sets the DVD recorder tuning to the same as the tv. On the KV28FX65U I just set the tv, connected the Panny DVD and it downloaded all the settings.

I see on page 57 there's a function to automatically take the dog for a walk....

Sorry, euphoria still.

I really am VERY pleased with this tv.

Thanks for your support.

I've just found the Smartlink function. It's on AV3 on this tv.

I wonder why they do that? It was on AV2 on the KV28FX65U and, with 4 scart cables to meticulously label, remove and refit to the tv, the Panny DVD recorder, the Sky Digibox and the Sony DVD player, I just expected to unplug from 1 Sony tv and refit to the other.

Must make life interesting for a tv installer. You'd think they'd standardise, wouldn't you?

Heh, enjoy it. These things cost so much money it's only right you should be delighted.
