28pw6520 32pw6520 28pw6720 32pw6720 service mode

These are my tv's default settings. Please record you own settings before changing, just incase. It would be usefull if people could post there own setting to compare, with the model of there TV mines a 28pw6720D/05

The picture quality on my tv in terms of geometry is spot on, I think the colours seem a bit washed out and bias towards purple/blue. Contrast+ makes things blocky and not natural. Contrast+ has a trick of turning its self on and off and not showing it so if things look a be Jackey Stalone, go into the menu and turn it off. On the RGB scart I've got a Humax pvr-8000t, this combo works well.

To enter service mode type 062596 i+
To exit sub menus and service mode press TV Menu

The settings:-

ERR 15 0 0 0 0
OP 028 030 214 049 236 021 000

AKB ON (not sure what it does)

questions on service mode

When I tried this on my 6520/05, I got the service menus but couldn't get out of service mode (SAM persistent on top right of screen). Had to switch off set to exit.

What are the meanings of all these service codes. I would like to adjust my geometry as, unlike yours, it isn't perfect.

I have not found that contrast + switches itself on and off. But of course you can have different stored settings for it on TV EXT1 EXT2 and so on.

DisposableHeros, are the settings given the original setting from new?

As mentioned before, I can confirm the washed out feeling I get on my new 28pw6520. However this can and does change from channel to channel, and even in the same program - when picture switches between different cameras. So, if I change the colours - I will shift the 'problem' from too much cool colours into too much warm colours. I was flicking through some channels this morning and got some digital channel (301 i think) - it showed tenis coverage from Australian Open - the colours and image quality was very very impressive! Indeed when I went back to the BBC the colours seemed washed.

As a result I don't think I have reason to get into the service menu for now. Am I correct?

Terry51,

I'm no expert in this area and haven't got a clue what the different geometry settings do. Try this site http://home.tiscali.nl/m.majoor/tv__...rvice_mode.htm
Hope it helps

Marktel,

The setting I recorded are exactly what I saw when entering service mode. I did this incase I made a hash of things. Don't rely on my settings as default yours could well be different. I changed some of them to see if it would work and no problem in doing this. The only thing I haven't tried is changing is the geometry. On the weekend I will see what I can do by changing the colour settings. As you can change them for cold/normal/warm, I guess I could use one as a new profile and have that as a generic setting.

At the moment the service mode settings are all set to default and I'm using the multimedia colour profile with a bit of tweaking and the warm setting.

Marktel, if you saw a programme last night and thought it looked great, I would leave it. Leave it for when party political broadcasts are on :-)

It would be good if you guys (or anybody viewing this) post your settings for everybody to compare.

settings on 28PW6520/05

Have had no trouble with the colours being washed out on my set. I use a PIoneer ITVDigital box to feed (RGB connection). However none of the Contrast Brilliance etc settings for Personal, Rich, Soft etc as straight out of the box were satisfactory. Might be alright in strong sunlight, but not for night-time viewing with just a corner lamp on in the room.

These settings (contrast brilliance etc) do make a big difference to the picture. However, I did not feel the need to change colour temperature, and only changed colour down from 34 to 33. Colours are always good, whatever the channel. They seem particular pleasing on old American shows (like the one about the radio psychologist in Seattle) Even if you expand the 4:3 screen to fullscreen.

As regards service mode (SAM) my settings as new (unless I accidentally changed them) are

00122 L04EP1 1.5
ERR 0 0 0 0 0
OP 156 012 134 049 236 021 000

AKB ON TUNER IFPLL 37 AGC 23 CL 7

GEOMETRY HORIZONTAL
HP 30
HB 35
HSH 41
EWW 47
EWP 14
EWT 23 ? (I forgot to write this down first - it's now 23)

[my eww is now 35 and my ewp is 16 (did I change them?)]

By watching the picture deform as I shifted the settings I'v worked out some of the functionality but not what the codes stand for.

HP seems to turn from a rectangle to parallelogram
EWW seems to fan out the picture (ie you see less of it once it hits the edges of the screen)
EWP seems to change from rectangle to sphere
EWT seems to change from rectangle to trapezoid

HB seems to change vertical edges (bows them) so both concave, not straight

Can anybody relate the codes to these functions ? Are the codes short for English words or Dutch?

I have not found a Store function on the service menu. Anbody got definitive on this?
