Remote Control Erractic Behaviour!

Hi there

I've posted this over on the DVD Player forum, but seeing as this is really only a general query about remote controls, I thought I would also try posting it here as well to see if anyone can advise:-

I have a Sony DAV SB100 DVD Player (part of a home cinema set up) and just recently I have noticed that sometimes (and only sometimes) when changing the volume on the remote control, the actual player either switches off or changes the tv channel (which can be controlled via the remote - there is a little red button that lights up for tv functions)

As I say, it's not everytime, but can sometimes happen when changing volume. I am going to change the batteries today (as they haven't been changed since Dec 04 when I got the player) but my real question is:

Can batteries which are running down make the remote behave in this kind of erratic fashion? (Ie change channels/switch off when changing volume??)

I'll give it a go with the new batteries, and quite obviously time will tell, but just simply wondered if low batteries can cause this sort of thing....

Thanks in advance for any help

Paul

Low batteries could cause the problem - if the R/C has a badly designed power management supervisory system / watchdog circuitry.
I would try that first as it's an easy form of elimination.
