Unhappy Samsung WS-32M206T problems

I recently bought a Samsung WS-32M206T 32¨CRT TV and experiencing some problems while watching DVD:s. When the picture is dark (eg in a star wars space scene) I notice a vertical shady line in the background. Sometimes when I turn on a dvd there are several white lines that moves from left->right part of the screen. If I adjust the picture so it becomes darker the lines becomes a bit less visible but its still annoying.. The lines are about 5cm width and appears about 75% in on the screen, sometimes a bit to the left and sometimes to the right... Anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Ive tried different DVD-players and different scart-cables but the problem seems to be in the TV? The lines doesnt appear when Im watching regular analog television through RF, just when Im using scart.

Sorry for my bad english but I hope

Problem continued...

I mailed Samsungs support, they said get a new cable since the 100hz Tellies are more sensitive to distortions. I get a new high end scart cable, the lines are still there. I call the vendor, they send me a new TV. Same problem. Now I have tried 4 different cables, 4 DVD-players and even a power outlet from my neighbour (!). I returned the TV yesterday with a full refund. If this is what to expect from cheap 100hz TV:s Im going to buy a good ol 50hz instead. Thinking of a Thomson..

I also had a problem with constant buzzing from the speakers of the Samsung, whenever there was a video signal (analog / digital).

Sounds to me like internal interference between the video amps and the scan. Probably the only solution is a whole load of ferrite cable shields on the video lines. possible it's also the EHT ringing (oscillating.)

Sadly both of these are effectively due to poor design and/or cost reduction.

This is a common trait on Samsung CRTs over the last few years and as suggested by hamster often down to bad design. In particular the power supply stage just isn't up to the demands being made on it.

There are a few things that can be done to improve matters - in particualr get the set on to the Mild setting as quickly as possible! I have a four year old Samsug set that I will be giving the full calibration work up to over the next week or so and I will write up the results as it may prve of interest to some.

I just bought a 32¨Thomson 50hz instead, works like a charm

A few notes to those who have the same problem with Samsung TV:s

-Try using svhs instead
-Tune contrast and brightness down a bit, then the lines becomes a little less (but for me, still disturbing) visible
-If you can live with the downsides of the Digital Noise Reduction or whatever its called, turn it on. That made the lines go away a bit, but I dont like the smearing effects
-Return TV and buy a different brand :-)

If you have a phone charging station near the set this can cause strange lines on screen when they age. Try switching it off at the mains along with any other plug in charging device.

Worth a try at least.
