Unhappy Panasonic TX-32DTX11 TV and Freeview

Hi All
Recently purchased a Panasonic TX-32DTX11 television with built in freeview. It's linked to a Panasonic NV-HD680B VCR. I'm looking to change the VCR to a DVD/HDD player. However, before I do so I wanted to know if the following is a problem or not -
The VCR will not record from DVB (freeview) while the television is in stand-by mode.
However, if I set a programme to record through my DVB TV Guide and set the television to stand by mode the programme will be recorded.

If I record any analogue programme through my VCR and have the television in stand by mode than I have no problems at all.
The TV and VCR both have Q-Link.
Do I have a problem??

Hi,

If you mean that when selecting a programme for recording via the EPG on the TV and then putting the TV into standby and hoping that Qlink will work then you might be disappointed.

I had 2 of these sets and Qlink rarely worked, sometimes it wouldn't work at all, or if it did start recording it wouldn't stop, or it would record sound without picture.

I now use the Sony STB for freeview and the manual states that Smartlink may not work all the time, I either program the video manually or use synchro record, no problems with either method.

I would get a recorder with a freeview tuner and don't bother using the TV for recording.

If your not happy you could try and get your money back.

It should work as that's one of the main Q-Link functions, however for the TV to output the Digital Tuner when in standby you must set a timer recording in the Guide on the TV otherwise the TV will turn fully off, although you can check this by looking for the orange timer light on the front of the TV when you switch to standby.
