That's not too helpful now is it?

Hitachi sets are notorious for this standby problem... It is caused by a dry joint on the standby IC.

If it's anything like the two I've fixed, just open her up, wiggle the aluminium heatsink sections and look for the standby ic wiggling in and out of the board... should be spottable in a couple of minutes. Resolder everything that looks dodgy and pop it back together.

Please get your facts right before criticising others
The model no he has given is incorrect...I suspect he has ommited a digit and if I am correct (and if it is the model I think it is) the chassis is NOT a Hitachi manufactured "A7" but a rebadged Vestel and your suggestion won't work and doesn't apply to this model.

Well sorry JayCee.

I wasn't meaning to be critical, but if you suspected that he had missed out a digit, why not say so?

As for checking my facts - I was under the impression that people came on the forums to discuss problems that others have experienced. I am simply sharing my experiences of Hitachi televisions. If everyone who gives advice here has to be an expert - then we wouldn't get very far would we?

I'm sorry if you thought my remark to be overly critical - I just thought you were being a bit blunt and unfriendly.

probable cause was the verticle output ic failing.
two resistors probably for the supply voltage to this resistor.
common fault in this vestel type of chassis (ak37/ak45)
