Upgradable TVs?

Hi,

do you know which vendors produce upgradable TVs? It really looks that Panasonic TX36PD50 cannot be (easily?) upgraded to support HDTV.
Which vendors produce upgradable TVs? (e.g. Loewe ...?)
Does someone have experience with such upgrades?

Is there such a thing?

They'd much rather sell you a new one!

I've read somewhere that for example Loewe produces such things. But I do not know any details. I would like to know whether there are also other vendors which do it and what can be really upgraded in their TVs.

Unlike computers, which consist of a number of components joined together, your average tv has one main circuit board with virtually everything on it.

Thus upgrading is not really feasable.

Unless, of course, some Loewe owner knows different...
