analogue cable signal on tv/vcr

I currently have an analogue cable signal.
If I plug this into the TV (Philips pw6006) I can pick up the standard 5 channels plus things like paramount comedy, Living TV, Sky One, and a few others.

If I plug the same cable into the VCR and auto scan it can only pick up BBC1/2, ITV, Channel 4, Sky One.

Any ideas why the VCR can’t pick up the same channels as the TV?

Having checked the manual it appears that the PW6006 can receive various sets of European frequency channels.
e.g. As well as channels 21 – 69 (ranging from 471.25 MHz to 855 MHz)
i.e. also receives channel E2 – E12 (ranging from 48.25 MHz to 224 MHz)
S1 – S20
H1 – H19.

The VCR appears to only scan for Channels 21- 69

Does anyone know anything about this or if there is a VCR that can scan all of the above channels?

Any other analogue cable users out there?

Which is normal for all vcrs in the UK.
Whatever channels are missing on the vcr.........take a note of their channel no on the Tv and then manually tune your vcr and add them.

Your TV has what is known as a hyperband tuner.
Your VCR just has a standard bandIV / bandV UHF only tuner.
I haven't heard of a VCR with hyperband tuner - but maybe someone here knows different.
