MY Panasonic vcr only records 2 mins!

I an=m a Brit.I have a Panasonic NV-HV60EB vcr. Recently I have on the odd occasion encountered a problem. The programme has been set to record by Video+ and under PDC as it is a BBC programme. However, when it is played back only about 2 minutes is recorded. This error so far has happened very spasmodically and I would like some advice if I am doing something wrong or what the problem might be and if I am in for an expensive repair. Could it be caused by some 'outside' influence' such as a glitch in the house's power supply? Any help will be welcome.

BTW does anyone know the current position with PDC on ITV and Channel4 as some while ago it was very patchy and unreliable?

Have you tried recording with the PDC switched off?
