Ferguson went phut.

Hi peeps. I have a Ferguson 33" standard nicam tv which has stopped working. Model number T78N. I switched it on and when the picture appeared i then pressed the button for teletext and there was a phut sound like a fuse blowing. The set then went into the standby mode with the red light on. I can't get it to switch on again. Does this sound like a major repair job ? The set is 7 years old and apart from the on/off switch being stuck in the on position it has never broken down before . Best wishes, Geoff.

Geoff,

Probably the LOPT (line output transformer).

Approx cost £80-£100 all in.

You're welcome.

Nice to see manners are still in fashion in some parts of the country.
