Is this a good price for this TV?

I am a plasma owner so don't know much about CRTs but want to buy one for my Father in law.

I dont want to spend more than £800 and looking at these pages this seems like a popular model.

Ps has anyone dealt with 'Sound and Vision Online' before? I was about to buy this a moment ago until I noticed their policy of charging any returns with a handling fee of 25%

S&V are one those companies that John Lewis may or may not price match against, depends which store and what mood they're in at the time. £725 incl delivery isn't a bad price but you can get the 36" for £799 at the mo.

As far as their returns policy is concerned it sort of depends on what they mean by a return. If it's simply a customer's change of mind and it's outside the normal 7/14 days return period, rather than a faulty good return then it's normal policy to charge a fee. John Lewis, for example, will charge up to 20% on certain items.

Well if they're considered to be reputable company then I'll just go for it then. Dont want to spend days looking for a better deal to save a few quid.

The 36ins isn't an option - he doesn't want a big tele - I'd have bought him a plasma otherwise.

I was looking at this on tvandvideodirect.com for about £696 I think. The 25% charge cannot be levied if the goods are faulty only if you change your mind and the goods are returned in a less than perfect condition. The tvandvideodirect.com charge is 15% for this. Goods supplied with an inherent fault are covered by the Sale of Goods Act 1979 AND the supplier has to pay for return carriage under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. As you can probably guess I am going through this process at the moment to return a faulty Philips 32PW9509. Which? Legal subscription has come in handy at last :-)

PS if you pay by credit card (at least £100 towards the goods) then are also liable if the supplier wont pay up/go under etc.
