50Hz vs 100Hz and TV's with progressive scan input
Hi guys,
Panasonic is offering a CRT TV(TX-29PX20) with DVD progressive scan input. What does this mean? Is it going to work only with a progressive scan DVD player or it will work with any other DVD player.
My other question is concerning the 100Hz TV’s.The TV signal I get is 50HZ. Is the 100Hz TV going to change something? Is it going to make the picture any better or worse, or the picture will not change?
For a pure progressive scan, dvd must have prog scan function. As for 50 vs 100htz ,the opinion has always been a split decision .Basically it is down to how your own eyes see the picture.Try to get some good demos of material that you watch[sky, dvds etc].Then you can see first hand the differences.
Thanks a lot spocktra.
So,I don't get any advantage of the progressive scan input if my DVD doesn't have the function.I'll go to the store and see the differences.

No both units have to be progressive capable.A demo would be a good idea, as not everyone prefers progressive to interlaced scanning. Some older dvds look worse on progressive scan. Most newer discs look fantastic.
