Urgent Help. Old Sony 'on The Blink'

Hi,

I've just sold my old Sony 28WX1U to a friend. It's been unused for about three weeks. I popped it my van yesterday and I've just delivered it.

I plugged it in and turned it on. The picture appeared....then disappeared! The red led on the front of the set then blinks on..off..on..off...pause..on..off..on..off...pause ..etc.

I've tried it a few times to no avail.

HELP!!!!! This is really embarrassing as I've been rattling on about how super reliable its been.

If any of you don't know the answer to this, do any of you know of ant other sources for help.

Thanks in advance,

Jimmy

Jimmy,

Why do these things happen when you try to do a favour to a friend?

(I once sold my totally reliable car to my Father-in-Law and it broke down as he drove it out of my driveway! )

The blinking LED (bet you called it something else ) is a code which will direct a technician to the area of the fault.

The vast majority of problems are power supply or timebase related.

As it's been disturbed, there's a good chance it's a poor connection or dry joint.

Unless you know what you're doing, please don't poke around inside!

I'm a bit of a fiddler, I'm quite happy to poke about inside. Any techies give me a clue to the Blinking Light Code.

Please help.
