Banding problem on the Sony TVs

Hello.

I have a Sony KV-32FQ70 and the TV has on the left side (about one inch from the left border) two static vertical bars that are slightly darker than the rest of the image. That bars are viewable in bright scenes. I think this is not a problem in the tube, since if I change the mode (between smart, wide, zoom, etc.), the position and aspect of the bars change. The bars are thick about half an inch each one and are spaced about also half an inch.

What problem can this be?

I already have disconnected cables (like the aerial, etc.), to see if it is some kind of interference, but it is always the same.

Regards.

Hi there,

I have a similar problem with my KV-32FQ86, I have two vertical lines about an inch and a half thick on the screen also, slightly darker than the rest of the image. I notice them most when watching television at night (with all the lights turned off).

I also have a kind of interference over the screen, kind of artifacts which are really unnoticeable when there is a moving picture on the screen, but if I view a blank digital channel and turn the brightness up all the lines etc show up very well.

Overall my set is fantastic, but those lines do annoy me when I see them, grrrrr.

I think other people on the forum are having the same issues, anyone know of a permanent fix or has anyone had their set looked at, and a solution been offered?

Any suggestions or info greatly appreciated.

Morgan

Hello.

Thanks for your reply, since I was considering an exchange o my FQ70 for a FQ86.

Well, I presume the banding issue is a problem that affects a wide range of Sony TVs, at least of this type. It is a shame.

About the artifacts, I think mine doesn't have them, but has other minor issues, like a slightly darker top left corner (but that is nothing compared with the banding).

Regards.
