Thanks: Gave 0, Got 0 | John Lewis v Total Digital
Hi all
I was under the impression John Lewis price matched with any retailer that basically had a high street shop. I have just tried to get the Sheffield branch to price match me a Sony KV28cs70 gainst Total Digital who sell the tv for £469 as opposed to JL's price og £649. After waiting 6 days i got a call back fron JlL saying they won't price match with Total Digital (Premier AV) as their prices aren't fixed? whatever that means? any advice would be helpful.

Ace420,
If you do a search for previous John Lewis posts, you'll see it's very much a lottery and depends on who you speak to.
Just keep trying and make sure they give in before you do!
Good luck!

I got JL to pricematch Premier AV Centre...I never mentioned that they were also Totaldigital....don't know if that made any difference. AFAIK their prices are as fixed as any other retailer.

I know it sounds daft, but persevere and you WILL succeed in the end!

they need to have a ticketed price or a printed price list if they dont and the sales guy just tells you the price then its classed as negotiated. so jl wont price match also check if they are internet based if the stock comes from internet stock even though they have a shop it is still classed as internet ok

Did you speak to the undersales department, or the AV department? Tight Git is right, it's worth speaking to the undersales dept again and ask them to explain what they mean. Be polite & reasonable, but persistent. Ask to speak to the manager, if you don't get any joy. Sometimes they overrule the original person that did the price-check. It can depend on which side of the bed they got out of...
Cheers,
Liam

Well originally the lady I spoke to at the start would not pass me directly to the undersales department, but she later passed me onto someone else who i assume was from undersales as this was the same person who rang me back saying they would not price match, but i guess i will have to give it another go, but i was wondering if it would be better to try from scratch or ask for an explanation of the original decision. I would also be interested to know if anyone knows of any other stores I could possibly price match to for a SONY KV28CS70, cos i really need a decent tv with atleast 3 scarts.
Thanx

I would always contact the undersales department directly. Sometimes other departments don't apply the rules correctly, especially when it means reducing the profit on items with an already relatively low margin (like TVs). Whereas it's the undersales department's job to apply the JLP policy, even if the AV department don't like it.
Cheers,
Liam
