I've got a 28" Mitsubishi TV in the bedroom which suddenly lost all it's red
colours.
The sound and picture work, but there is no red in the image, which makes it
almost impossible to see what's going on.
Is this sort of thing repairable or do I need a new one?
Is this from an analogue source? If yes that rules out bad scart socket etc. Try giving it a sharp clout! Not too hard,if the red flickers back on it is just a dry joint, this is the most likely cause, dry joint on the tube neck PCB or on the main PCB somewhere.......
Well I tried it. It's not the first time I've been straining to see the picture with a sore palm, but it's certainly the most disappointing.
I don't want to hit it any harder in case I break something. Does that mean I need a new tube (read bigger telly) or could it still be something easy to fix?
It still could be a bad solder joint,if your OK with soldering take the case off and look for dry joints on the tube neck PCB first,if in doubt touch them all up(not many on tube neck)if still no RED have a look on the main PCB for dry joints.99% of the time this is all it is..........
