John Lewis Price Match v/s Barclaycard Price Promise

Just wondering, isn't Barclaycard Price Promise a better bet than John Lewis price match since Barclaycard will match against any UK web site.
Can I buy from John Lewis and claim the difference from Barclaycard.?
Or am I missing something here?

Firstly I would decide whether you want the John Lewis 5 year guarantee? If you do then I would pay the John Lewis price, which is usually fairly competetive anyway and be happy that you go a good deal. If, however, you feel you must have it for the cheapest price there is then I would buy it online from which you get the standard 1 year manufacturers warranty and be happy that you got the best price, but will get minimum aftersales support if it is required and will be liable for all carriage charges to send the unit back to whoever you bought it from if anything goes wrong.

Surely Barclaycard could not charge for the cost of a 5 year warranty as JL offer this, in their own words, free. Therefore the purchaser is just paying for the TV and that's what Barclaycard should price match. I don't think it would be legal (or ethical at least) for Barclaycard to attempt to charge market value for something that is given away free in order to minimise the amount they pay out.

Has anyone Price Promised on a JL purchase and, if so, how did Barclaycard calculate the amount they paid out?

Just get John lewis to price match someone else, then you get the best price plus a 5 year warranty.

There are loads of shops that are as cheap as internet only retailers. www.totaldigital.biz, www.rgbdirect.com, the list goes on.

Just email your local John lewis with the details of the price match, they will get back to you a few days later with a reference number and you then pay for it. How easy it that !!!.

Thanks guys for all your views , I think I'll try and call Barclaycard and ask whether they will add the cost of a 5 year warranty to the price comparison since JL is offering it for free.
Fingers crossed !!
