Exclamation non-UK Sony TV model

I have recently bought a brand new Sony KV32FX68 TV.

The company said it is direct from Sony.

The actual model supplied is a KV32FX68B, that I beleive is the model for the some parts of Europe. The actual model for UK is KV32FX68U.

Are these the same TV's, i.e. specifications etc.?

There seems to be no problems with the tv apart from that I cannot set the country for the tv to UK, as the 'UK' option is not there.

When i telephoned the company upon delivery, the company assured me that they do not import TV and only sell UK models.

Is it safe to retain TV, refund or ask for the 'U' model?

help

The B code is production for the French market, it should not have been supplied in the UK.

My understandind is also that only U versions are intended for UK mainland. Did your TV come with a stand?

no it did not come with a stand.

I called Sony and they confirmed that there should not be any probelms using the tv over hear.

are you saying that the difference between the 'b' and 'u' models is the stand?

All UK large screen Sony TVs come with a stand (whether you like it or not) and on the continent you have to pay extra for the stand, so it's just a sign that it's not a UK version. If its picking up all the channels and you've got good picture and sound I wouldn't worry about it. Which retailer by-the-way?

i bought my set from TVRUS in Birmingham. there website is www.tvrus.co.uk. the set cost me just under £600, without stand.

I called them and they also said more or less the same thing with regard to the stand, the tv being perfectly okay in the UK and that they have sold many of these models and have not had any issues like I have raised.

I am happy with this set, no buzzing and picture quality excellent. It fits my needs perfectly.

I just had a look at the TVsRUs web site and their 'about us' page goes some way to explaining how they've ended-up selling non-UK models, even though they don't say those exact words.

Don't worry about your TV, I have an FX66B and it works fine.

The shop I bought it from did tell me it was imported, so I knew what I was getting.

Most Sony TV's are made in Wales, so technically it's not imported.

many thanks Paul and to everyone for your input.

I have received great comments from friends and family, about the tv and especially when I told them the price!
