I know but P as in Progressive scan?
Reason I ask is because the 51WH36P is in argos for £1400! with free delivery:
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...roductId=90376
Does the P include a stand at the bottom? and the non-P doesn't?
If so it would be handy
Is it bad to buy off argos?

I got the 51" today.
Ordered from sound and vision.
They say it can take upto 7 days for delivery (just make sure they have it in stock).
I orderd mine on Tuesday.
2 of the staff from Sound and Vision's warehouse had to drive down from bolton today, as they said it was to big for their normal couriers.
That seems like good customer service to me.
I do not belive there is a difference between the WH36 and the WH36P, unless argos are advertising it differently.
Some sites have it listed as the WH36 and some as the WH36P.....no difference, same TV.

They are advertising wrong, there is only one WH36P.
Always check Toshibas site first.

I ordered from Argos. I figured it was worth paying £30 extra to deal with a very big company who wouldn't care enough to argue with me if I wanted to return it. I think their conditions of sale are the same for a 51" TV as for a lighbulb (random example.) They say they will take anything you are dissatisfied with back, including collecting it from you. (If there was a disclaimer for 51" TVs I missed it.)
Having said that, they quoted up to 28 days for delivery, and although they still have two weeks I'm not entirely confident they are even going to meet that deadline. I'm begining to wish I had ordered for £1370 from an internet site promising to deliver within 7 days...
Edited to say: Maybe I'm being to hard on Argos, when I ordered two weeks ago the site said 28 days, a week ago I noticed they were saying 21 days, now I see they are saying 14 days. So it looks like they really are expecting a batch on a particular date.

The P stands for Pan european..
Its the country designator..
In the past, Toshiba made TV's specifically per country, so the UK had a DB (B for British?), DD for Germany, etc. The differences where mainly due to it being cheaper to make the model specific, as in the UK, we have a slightly unique PAL setup, and the french have PAL and SECAM, etc, etc..
Well, nowadays, they make sets that support all main formats PAL/SECAM/NTSC... and so the same set can be used anywhere in europe (well just about), as long as its 240V...
